Overview
The Curtain Coating Machine, also known as a curtain coater or flow coater, is an advanced industrial coating system that applies a uniform, continuous curtain of liquid coating onto flat workpieces as they pass beneath the coating head. By utilizing the natural flow properties of liquid coatings, this machine delivers a thick, smooth, and high-gloss finish in a single pass—making it an ideal solution for manufacturers seeking superior decorative effects and high production efficiency.
Senren Machinery has been dedicated to integrated coating solutions across multiple industries for over two decades. As a national high-tech enterprise with ISO 9001:2015 and CE certifications, Senren offers reliable, precision-engineered curtain coating equipment trusted by industry leaders worldwide.
Applications
The Curtain Coating Machine is widely used for primer or topcoat application on various flat substrates, including:
-
Furniture & Wood Products: Panel furniture, solid wood composite flooring, flat wooden doors, cabinets, bamboo wood curtains
-
Building Materials: Ceramic wall and floor tiles, decorative panels, architectural glass
-
Metal Products: Metal sheets, aluminum panels, stainless steel
-
Glass & Composites: Flat tempered glass, cover glass, polymer composites, inorganic materials
-
Other Substrates: Marble, plastic, high-density fiberboard (HDF), and more
Coating Types Supported: UV varnish, water-based coatings, PU (polyurethane), NC (nitrocellulose), amino varnish, acrylic varnish, and more.
Working Principle
The curtain coating process begins when coatings are pumped by a transfer pump into the inner cavity of the gravity head. The coating then flows downward from the top of the curtain head in a uniform, continuous film, forming a stable "curtain" of liquid. Flat panels are conveyed on the transport belt and pass through this thin curtain at a controlled, constant speed. As the panels travel beneath the curtain, the liquid coating evenly covers the surface. The coating thickness is precisely controlled by adjusting the coating pump's flow rate, conveying speed, and the gap between the curtain and the conveyor belt—with the thinnest achievable layer reaching only 0.06mm.
This non-contact coating method eliminates physical contact between the applicator and the workpiece, ensuring a flawless, scratch-free finish.
