The Infrared (IR) Leveling Machine is an essential piece of equipment in modern coating finishing lines, designed for the critical post-application phase following roll coating, spray coating, or curtain coating. It serves as the vital intermediate process between coating application and final curing (e.g., UV curing), ensuring a smooth, even, and flawless surface finish before proceeding to the final drying stage.
This machine is widely used for leveling and defoaming coated flat substrates such as wood panels, furniture boards, doors, metal sheets, glass, and PVC. It is compatible with various coating types including water-based paints, UV-curable coatings, NC, PE, PU, and solvent-based paints.
Working Principle
The machine utilizes medium-wave infrared radiation heating technology to provide gentle yet penetrating heat directly onto the coating surface. After the workpiece is coated, it enters a temperature-controlled tunnel where infrared heating tubes emit specific wavelengths of radiation. This process accomplishes three primary functions:

Leveling and Defoaming – The radiant heat reduces coating viscosity, allowing the material to redistribute evenly and fill in streaks or irregularities. Simultaneously, it accelerates the evaporation of solvents and trapped air bubbles, eliminating defects such as pinholes, orange peel, brush marks, and flow marks.

Drying Promotion – The heat facilitates both physical drying (solvent evaporation) and chemical reactions in certain coatings (e.g., PU, PE), promoting film formation.
